Who makes EDDM Planner?
EDDM Planner is a free web application from 9x12tools, operated by Seek First Development LLC. It helps local businesses and shared postcard operators plan Every Door Direct Mail campaigns using USPS carrier routes.
We are an independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by USPS. EDDM Planner provides planning tools and documents; USPS handles postage, mailing acceptance, and delivery.
What is included for free?
Anyone can search for carrier routes, explore a map, review available delivery counts and demographic summaries, and estimate mailing costs. No account is needed to get started.
A verified email unlocks saved plans, calculator snapshots, coverage PDFs, public coverage links, USPS mailing paperwork, and mailing history. Accounts can save up to 100 plans, with up to 250 routes in a plan. There is no planner subscription or credit card requirement.
Printing, postage, and any optional subscription to the separate 9x12tools platform are separate costs. A private planner campaign is not automatically imported into a 9x12tools account. The EDDM planning guide walks through the process.
Where does the route data come from?
Carrier route facts and route geometry are obtained from USPS mapping services and stored in our database. The planner reads that stored data so a route search does not have to wait for a live USPS response. Demographic summaries appear when the source provides them.
The planner tracks when ZIP route data was last successfully refreshed and shows data freshness in the workspace. Missing or older data can trigger a background refresh. Refresh timing also depends on source availability, request limits, and whether the area has been viewed or saved in a plan.
If a refresh fails or returns a suspicious result, previously stored data may remain available while a later refresh is attempted. A recent retrieval date describes when we obtained the source data; it does not certify when every underlying delivery count or demographic estimate changed. Confirm final routes and quantities with USPS before printing.
How should I use the cost estimates?
The calculator uses the selected mailing quantity, the configured USPS postage rate, and the printing and other costs you enter. Postage rates are stored with an effective date, verification date, and source link. Check the rate shown in your estimate against current USPS pricing for your mailing date.
Advertising revenue, profit, and break-even figures come from your inputs. They do not predict advertiser demand or recipient response. Downloaded paperwork supports preparation and does not purchase postage or submit a USPS order.
Your plans and email choices
Saved plans are private by default. You choose whether to publish a coverage link, and you can disable it later. Public coverage excludes your email, mailing address, and campaign pricing. Someone who receives a downloaded document can keep or share it.
Marketing emails are optional and separate from email verification. You can unsubscribe without losing your saved plans or free access. Read our privacy policy and terms of use for more details.
